Living in Peace

19 April 2014

“Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.” (Jude 1,2)

Jude concludes his opening address by hoping for a lively experience of the grace and mercy of God in the lives of his readers. This experience is best described as peace. Even though the world may be raging, as Jude will soon describe, there is a peace in knowing that we are kept by the power of God unto salvation.

Jesus describes it with even more comfort;

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.” (John 10:27-30)

The elect, although they may be helpless sheep, are safe in the hands of an Almighty and Loving Father.
