Life For and From Devotion

28 August 2014

"In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work." (John 4:31-34)
matthew 633

God designed man with the need for natural sustenance. Eating is a natural part of God's design. However, food is not the ultimate source of life.

Jesus gained strength from doing God's will and so can we.

That is the lesson of these verses in a nutshell.

We exist to glorify God. Therefore, we should pray, study His word, and attend to preaching so that we can better understand how we can glorify Him with every breath.

We should not concern ourselves with the natural needs of life. We should seek to glorify God in all that we do at home, on the job, at school, or wherever we are. We should put God first and trust that He will provide for our natural as well as spiritual needs.
