This Day

And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Luke 4:21

Can you imagine what it was like to have the Messiah Himself read a portion of scripture that said what the Messiah will do when He comes?

Not only that, can you imagine the room when when Jesus said that he was the Messiah!?!

It had to be extremely dramatic whether you believed Him or rejected Him. Those bold claims require some sort of action!

The gospel should affect us in the same way today. We cannot simply have good thoughts about Jesus and see Him as a good man and teacher. Jesus claimed to be the Messiah, the Son of God. If this is not true, then we cannot call Him good. If it is true, then we MUST revere Him with our every breath!

It has been almost 20 years since terrorists suddenly attacked America on her home soil. Since that time, our nation has been struggling with unending wars and more terror attacks. Now, we face an unseen enemy in a virus. Coupled with that virus are the attempts of government officials to slash our freedoms, including the freedom of religious expression. Further, we have riots in many of our major cities. The nation is tense. Households are divided.

What do all these things have in common?

SIN

The problem is not a particular political party or even a specific religion. The problem is much deeper. The sinful nature of man being used by Satan himself has produced this current pandemic of fear!

But we need to remember this – sin, fear, sickness, death, hatred…these are all enemies of God. And God will take vengeance on ALL His enemies.

God was aware of the condition of His children in the first century, and He is just as aware or our struggles today. My fellow Christian-Americans, please walk by faith today and everyday.

No matter who is in the White House, or what terrorist group seeks to wipe us out, or what story the media attempts to frighten you with, remember this – Jesus declared that the prophecy of the Messiah was fulfilled. That means…

JESUS REIGNS!
