O, Theophilus!

O, Theophilus!

“The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:” Acts 1:1-3

We do not know exactly who Theophilus was. Luke addressed his gospel and this history of the Book of Acts to him. His name literally means “One who loves God.”

Dear Reader, do you love God? If yes, then this letter and all the Bible was written to you.

What a wonderful thought!

This precious gem of inspired history is a treatise where we can hear about the continued work of Jesus Christ and His church and among the people of God. The Gospel of Luke recorded many things that Jesus did prior to His ascension. Part of those activities included a promise that His work would continue in the form of the Holy Comforter Who is the Holy Ghost.

With this in mind, we can see that this letter as well as all of the Bible are written for those who love God.

Skeptics and unbelievers approach the Bible with the desire to find fault in it so they can ignore the counsel and instruction of God. Anyone approaching the Bible this way is not genuine in their approach. They are not interested in a message from God, about God. They seek to silence God. The Book of Acts and the Bible were not written to those who hate God.

There will be many signs and wonders recorded in the book of Acts. These sign gifts assure you, the believing child of God, that the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. God sent these signs to confirm that fact to you and all other children of God that Jesus Christ IS God’s Son, He did come to die for you, AND He finished the work.

Jesus is a successful Savior!
