Treasure in Heaven
When we walk like Jesus – loving others and not think of ourselves – then we “lay up” treasure in heaven. What is precious to us cannot be stolen away and will never wear old or deteriorate. And even after this earth passes away, love with continue for all eternity.

WHEN Ye Fast
We certainly should not be announcing to others that we are fasting so they feel sorry for us! And, if fasting is to humble us, then why would we use it to promote ourselves as better than others?

Let Us Pray
God’s people can and should be private prayer all day long. The metaphor of a closet shows us that no one can tell when we are praying!

Private Christianity
I believe that Jesus intended for us to focus on our private discipleship in order to fulfill our mandate as the light of the world.

Love: Christian Style
By loving, we can be complete (perfect) disciples.

Pride
We should not be concerned with our “rep.” If we are concerned with what others think of us, it is probably our pride that could be hurt. This should not be a concern for a Christian.

We Live in an Angry World
Jesus closes this lesson with a warning that, if we do not resolve the sin of anger in ourselves, we will have to deal with the consequences. God will not intervene to “fix” the mess we have made when our own anger is the cause.

A Confession
God has designed it so that when we do a good thing, the glory He receives is magnified.

The Purpose of Good Works
We do not have to slavishly seek to please God by our will or works. We can, with great liberty, live our live in thankful righteousness.

Are
Fellow child of the King, if we do not give God the glory, who will?
