Free to Do Good

Free to Do Good

And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

Mark 3:4

Is it ever wrong to do righteousness?

Is it ever lawful to do evil?

These questions seem simple but they are the ones the Lord asked of the Pharisees that caused them great consternation. They had developed a religious system that was so confusing that they needed lawyers to interpret their interpretations!

The lesson here is a simple one. If the system of religion you practice is more difficult than the two questions Jesus asked, then your religion is either man-made or highly influenced with the opinions of man.

The simplicity of sovereign grace is this – Jesus died for the children of God and paid the ransom fully.

Our actions or beliefs do not add to or take away from the fact we are secure in Christ. Therefore, we don’t do good works, to get saved, to prove we are saved, or to maintain our salvation.

We are free to worship in thankfulness, resting in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

The simplicity of grace says that we are free to do good just because it is good!
