In Like Manner

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Acts 1:9-11

It never ceases to amaze me how God’s people can make things so difficult for themselves.

There are countless opinions about the time and manner of how Jesus will come the second time without sin unto salvation. Our earthly opinions and desires can easily cloud our understanding of very straight-forward explanations found in the word of God.  We do not need a commentary to understand God’s word. We just need to read it!

These verses from Acts clearly state what it will be like at the end of time. Jesus will be visible in the clouds.  This is fact is supported throughout the New Testament.

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Revelation 1:7

John says that Jesus will come in the clouds, just like He left in Acts 1. He also says that every eye shall see Him, including those that killed Him.  This statement says quite a lot! It means that it will be at the time of a general resurrection of all the dead because every eye includes those that died nearly 2,000 years ago.

Jesus stated the same thing about a general resurrection in the Gospel of John.

Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

John 5:28-29

This passage in Revelation also means that it will be at the end of time.  They didn’t have CNN or FOXNEWS to broadcast back then, so there has to be a cessation of time and space for every human (the living and the resurrected dead) to be able to see Him at the same time.

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

1st Thessalonians 5:2

This text is not talking about a secret rapture. We have already concluded that the return of Jesus is going to be VERY visible.  This is telling us that no man can pinpoint the exact time of the Lord’s return. The Doomsday Prophet has no scriptural support for his cultic preaching. His predictions of time and place have passed and been proven wrong thousands of times.

However, we are to have the idea that Christ’s return is imminent.

The disciples are about to be shown their duties in the kingdom of God. This lesson tells us that we ought to be busy in our Father’s kingdom until we see the Lord coming in the clouds.

We can also go to Paul’s writings and understand that not only will the coming of Jesus be visible, it will be quite loud!

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

1st Thessalonians 4:16-17

Men may publish lots of books and make lots of movies. But their fiction is no different than the Avengers or Star Wars. They are just making money. And, contrary to the opinion of many,

NONE OF GOD’S CHILDREN WILL BE LEFT BEHIND!
