And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

Unlike the practices of the religion of Scribes and Pharisees, Jesus taught compassion and value of the lives of women. One of those women was Mary Magdalene.

There are several Marys mentioned in the New Testament. Most likely this Mary was from the Galilean town of Magdala. She is described as one who formerly was possessed by seven devils.

Jesus is the one who had cast out those devils (Mark 16:9), and so she follows Him in thankfulness – and not just temporarily.

Mary follows Jesus ministering to His personal needs of food and other things throughout His time in Galilee and beyond. She is mentioned in Matthew, Chapter 28 as one of the women that went to anoint the body of Jesus in the sepulcher on the first day of the week.

She was not just a marginal Christian. She was all-in for the Lord.

Oh, that we could be the same. We need to see all that Jesus has done for us and Who He is as King of kings and Lord of lords. Then, when we see this, we need to respond!

We need to follow Him immediately and repeatedly. Anytime we find ourselves away from Him, we need to think of His glory and love. Then, run to Him as fast as we can.

We need to be like Ruth was toward Naomi:

And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
