The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luke 4:18-19
When did Jesus come to save sinners?
At the exact moment that the Father saw fit.
And so it will be with His return.
Men cannot hasten the return of Christ by their actions or wills any more than they could bring Christ the first time. His first coming surprised the “learned” religious leaders of the day, and I believe His return will surprise them as well!
2020 has brought troubling times into each of our lives, but the message of the gospel has not changed!
God is always aware of the conditions on earth. He is aware when people are suffering. He is aware when governments fail in their duty to protect their citizens. He is aware when we are scared of illness or riots.
God is aware, and the His gospel message has the same response – God is in control.
The gospel mends our broken hearts. It feeds our spiritual hunger. It calms our fears. It reminds us that Jesus is coming back and will conquer all His enemies when He takes us home with Him.
Whatever tomorrow, or any other day, holds, do not live in fear of your enemies. Why? because they hated God before they hated us!
And all the enemies of God will fall at His “acceptable” time!
