You can't scare someone into loving God!
There is a true rest in the grace of God when we see that Jesus truly did “pay it all.”
Jesus plainly says that there are some who truly do love God and want to hear from Him. They seek out truth. And even though they are sometimes errant in their ways, they are not interested in just playing church. They truly want to glorify God in their worship.
Perhaps we have too low a view of what is happening when a man is blessed of God to preach and teach exactly what we need when we need it.
If any man feels he has the call to preach, he should humbly and earnestly seek the Lord's help to diligently study the word of God and not men's doctrines.
One of the most comforting phrases of the gospel is found in this passage: “He shall not fail.”
Let us not quench the smoking flax in judgment of outward appearance. Let us fan the flame of all our fellow children of God to the praise of the glory of His grace!
The gospel is not a warning that judgment is coming. It is a declaration that the judgment has been made and the elect are justified in Christ.
Life without Christ is darkness. But when Jesus sovereignly “springs up” in the heart of one of God’s children, Light then dwells where there was once utter darkness!
Whatever tomorrow, or any other day, holds, do not live in fear of your enemies. Why? because they hated God before they hated us!
