John prepared the way for the Lord, not by changing the hearts of men for that lies only in the power of God. John prepared the way by showing clearly what the Old Testament taught about the coming Messiah.

The phrase “God with us” means much more than God is helping us from heaven.

We have no pure lineage to claim. We have no righteousness of our own to plead. Therefore, God sent Jesus among sinners to SAVE sinners!
