We should be good stewards of the word of God given to us. When we are, we save ourselves from false professors, false teachers, and confusion.
If we are confused we need to know that it is most likely not God that confused us!
To preach with authority does not mean that you are loud, can boast several degrees, or show how many books you have published. A man that preaches with authority gets his doctrine form the word of God. He gives glory to God. He feedsthe sheep with knowledge and understanding. He loves like a shepherd and does not threaten like a taskmaster.

The conclusion of the message "Be Your Own Fact Checker" reminds us of the dangers of trying to live in this sin-cursed world without the word of God as a guide. We have the most sure word of truth to guide us. The Bible is true and should be read and followed.
1st John Series • 11. Be Your Own Fact Checker – 1st John 4:1-6 Part 1 In Chapter 4, the Apostle John sounds another warning to God’s people to be aware of and avoid the false doctrines of the world. John tells us to put everything we hear “on trial” by comparing it to the word of God. When we do this we can have assurance that we are standing in the truth and have peace and joy despite the fact we are surrounded by wickedness and hate in the world.
We should remember that He is the Sovereign King. Therefore, we should seek to do things the way our King declares we should!
