Colossians Series • 3. Paul's Prayer - Colossians 1:9-14 Paart 2 Today, we will conclude the message on Paul's prayer. The recording begins with the explanation of how it is possible that we can be so close to God that we can see Him working in our lives even in the the times of deepest distress. We may not understand what exactly is happening but, by faith, we can trust God and see that His will is more important than ours. This is because it gives Him all the glory and we receive all the peace. This message was preached on March 27, 2022.
Colossians Series • 3. Paul's Prayer - Colossians 1:9-14 Part 1 Paul prays for three things for these brethren and they all relate to the mind. He prays for their knowledge of God to increase, their walk to be led by wisdom, and their minds to be knit together with the mind of Chris. He prays this so that they would would glorify God even more in their daily walk. The more we know about Who God is and how much He has blessed us by His grace, the more we are moved to love out of thankfulness. This message was preached on March 27, 2022.
It is very easy to remember to pray for ourselves, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, our discipleship is to have a focus on others. We need to be part of a community of pray for others in our local church. This body prays for those they know well and for God to bless its ministers to teach them.
One of the greatest blessings that we will find when we talk with God regularly is that we are joining in a battle the God is already fighting for us!
When we take the personal responsibility to actively engage our minds in the word of God and in worship, we equip ourselves with the helmet of salvation, and therefore have the right mindset to fight our spiritual battles.
Ephesians Series • 27. The Helmet Ephesians 6:17a (November 15, 2020) The next element of the whole armor of God found in Paul's letter to the Ephesians is the helmet of salvation. In this episode, we will learn that our knowledge and belief in the finished work of Jesus Christ is vital for spiritual health and walk.
In this episode, Elder Bryce continues describing how the shield of faith works in our day to day spiritual battles. It is only with the help of our brothers and sisters in Christ that we are able to fend off the violent attacks of Satan.
Ephesians Series • 26. The Shield of Faith Ephesians 6:16 (November 8, 2020) One of the oldest tactics of warfare has been the use of flaming arrows to attack the enemy from a great distance. The biggest advantage to this tactic is that the general does not put himself or his troops in harms way while he inflicts damage to his enemy. This tactic is also used by our adversary, the devil. He shoots at the children of God from a distance and very often does quite a bit of damage to those who are alone and wandering away from the fellowship of the saints. The best defense against this dangerous assault is regular worship and church fellowship. Just like the "testudo" defense of shields used by the Roman army, the shield of faith of the church provides a dome covering where the members protect one another.
Ephesians Series • 25. Feet Shod with the Preparation of the Gospel of Peace Ephesians 6:15 (November 1, 2020) Part 2. The word of God helps us in our daily lives, and equips us to help others in love.
Ephesians Series • 25. Feet Shod with the Preparation of the Gospel of Peace Ephesians 6:15 (November 1, 2020) It is not just the preacher’s job to prepare to preach the word. It is the duty of all children of God to prepare to receive the word, apply the word, and live the word. Scripture tells us who we are and where we stand. It also tells us Who God is and what He has done for us. When we see the marvelous grace of God in our lives we want to follow Him. The Bible shows us exactly how to do that as well.
