God has a very specific number of elect that will be with Him. But that number is huge!
The devil tempted Jesus with all the worldly riches and the power and fame that comes along with those things. Those things were not his to give. Therefore he is a liar! Any who promise such things "lie like the devil!"
Jesus has called you into life us by His marvelous and irresistible grace. How will you choose to live that life?
This verse is not teaching us to choose our eternal destiny. It is teaching God's children that there are two paths we can choose to walk in this life.
We ought to love and help others and we would want them to show mercy and grace to us. When we do this, we are fulfilling law the and prophets. We love God by loving others.

Our tender heart may want to help them but sometimes direct confrontation is obviously not what is needed.
When we see how merciful God has been to us, we will be in the right frame of mind to extend grace and mercy to others who need it.
Our heavenly Father cares for us. When we are focused on serving Him by serving others, we see that He cares for us and provides for us from the storehouse of His mercy.
When we put God first and foremost in our lives, we find peace. Which is exactly the opposite of... BUSY.
