A Little Rest

“And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.”

Luke 4:13

Jesus was faithful to the word of God and trusted His Father in the face of great temptation. When Jesus resisted, the devil grew weary and went away.

But only for a season.

We must be ever on our guard. Just because we have overcome temptation and trial doesn’t mean the devil will give up and leave us alone. No, he is simply regrouping and forming another attack plan.

I have no authority to say whether or not the devil caused this current world crisis but I do know this…He certainly took advantage of the situation! He was able to to probe and examine aspects of the lives of God’s children that he may not have seen before. The stress of the pandemic has shown where our weaknesses are as Christians. We need to recognize those weaknesses (the devil certainly has) and ask God for help.

We need to arm ourselves with the whole armor of God and be continually in prayer as Jesus taught us;

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”

Matthew 6:13
