Jesus Hungered

Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.

Matthew 21:18

And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:

Mark 11:12

There are many who want to treat the Bible as a book of philosophy and Jesus as just another wiseman of the past. They look at the deity of Christ proclaimed in the scriptures and ignore it. Others teach that Jesus is God but deny that He also came in the flesh.

The truth is Jesus was and is 100% God and 100% man at the same time.

Thomas said it well:

And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

John 20:28

The humanity of Christ is what I would like to discuss for a moment and why it is important.

In order for man (soul, body, and spirit) to be redeemed, there must be a near kinsman redeemer. To redeem a body, a body must be paid.

But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Galatians 4:4-5

The humanity of Jesus also helps us in our daily struggles.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Hebrews 4:15

Jesus understands our struggles because He suffered infirmities and hardships while here on earth.

Lastly, the idea of Jesus not being born in the flesh, is the message of antichrist.

Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

1st John 4:2-3

To truly believe in Jesus, we must believe the Jesus described in the Bible. The Jesus of the Bible is God. He is the Son of God Who came in the flesh, to die in the flesh, so that we may live forever with Him and see Him with our own eyes!

Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

Job 19:27
